Coweta County Fair 2026 in Newnan: Roads, Tickets & Events

October 1, 2026

If you pulled into the back lot at the Coweta County Fairgrounds on opening weekend expecting the freshly paved Southeast Connector to be your way out, you were right. If you were hoping it would be your way in next time, you're going to sit at that gate a while.

The fair has run at 275 Pine Road for years, but this is the first time it's operating alongside a brand new road, and the road doesn't do what a lot of regulars assume. It was built to solve one specific problem at one specific time of the week, and understanding which problem it solves is the difference between a ten-minute exit on a Saturday night and a ten-minute wait for nothing.

The Road Fixes an Exit Problem, Not an Entry Problem

The Southeast Connector runs from a new roundabout on Corinth Road to the fairgrounds, and for this year's fair it's exit only, and only for cars parked in the rear lot. The main gate off Pine Road stays two-way for the entire eleven-day run, which means every car still comes in the same way it always has. The new pavement only changes what happens once you're already parked in back and ready to leave.

That rear lot isn't used every night. It fills up on the high-volume nights, Fridays and Saturdays, when the front lot runs out of space first. So the road's real job is narrow and specific: it gives Friday and Saturday night crowds a second way out of a lot that used to funnel everyone back through the same Pine Road exit as the front lot. Kiwanis Golden K Club volunteers are still on hand directing traffic and pointing cars to open spaces, the same as every other year. What's different is where those cars go when the night's over.

If you're arriving, none of this changes your route. If you're the kind of fairgoer who parks in back on a weekend and usually sits in a line of taillights for twenty minutes after the fireworks or the last band, this is the year that line gets shorter. Everyone else can ignore the new road entirely.

The Ticket Math Reset on September 23

The other change this year is less about pavement and more about arithmetic, and it's easier to miss because it isn't posted on a sign at the gate.

Before the fair opened, a Mega Pass cost $30 and covered both gate admission and unlimited rides for one day, but that pass had to be purchased online by Wednesday, September 23, the day before the fair started. Once the gates opened, that option disappeared. What replaced it is a two-part cost: $10 gate admission (free for kids five and under) plus a separate ride armband priced at $30 Sunday through Thursday and $35 on Fridays and Saturdays. Buy both on a regular weeknight and you're at $40 for a night that would have cost $30 if you'd planned ahead before the 23rd. On a Friday or Saturday, it's $45.

The fair offered one way to get that $30 rate on nights when the gate itself was free. Four nights carried sponsored free gate admission this year: Thursday, September 24 with Brent Scarbrough & Company, Monday, September 28 with Jake Stanley State Farm, Tuesday, September 29 with Dr Pepper, and Wednesday, September 30 with Lou Sobh Kia of Newnan. On those nights, fairgoers could pay only for the armband and match the old Mega Pass price without the advance planning it required.

Eleven Nights, Not Interchangeable

The entertainment lineup changes enough night to night that picking one at random can mean missing the thing you'd have actually wanted to see.

Date Day What's Happening Free Gate
Sept 24 Thursday Preview night: rides, food vendors, exhibit hall, petting zoo Yes (Brent Scarbrough & Company)
Sept 25 Friday Full schedule opens: princess appearances, Puppy Pals, spin art, live statue No
Sept 26 Saturday Art contest, Jerry G. White at noon, horse show at 5 p.m. No
Sept 27 Sunday Gingerbread house decorating No
Sept 28 Monday Standard entertainment lineup Yes (Jake Stanley State Farm)
Sept 29 Tuesday Pine Box Dwellers and Newnan High School chorus at 7 p.m. Yes (Dr Pepper)
Sept 30 Wednesday Kraken's Release performance, goat show, Wayne Jenkins painting in the exhibit hall Yes (Lou Sobh Kia of Newnan)
Oct 1 Thursday Pumpkin decorating at 6 p.m., horseshoe pitching at 7 p.m. No
Oct 2 Friday Fair's beauty pageant at 6 p.m. No
Oct 3 Saturday Military Appreciation Day, Cattlemen's steak cook-off at 6 p.m., Shade Dogz on the food court stage No
Oct 4 Sunday Closing day, mariachi band on the food court stage at 5 p.m. No

Stack the two threads together and the week sorts itself out. The lowest total cost was available Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, when the gate fee was waived. If you want the shorter exit line and don't mind paying full price, a Friday or Saturday night still gets you out faster than it would have last year, as long as you park in back.

The Site Was Built to Outlast the Fair

It's worth remembering that Pine Road isn't just a fairgrounds for eleven days a year. The property carries a conference center, the Ag Building, the James E. McGuffey Nature and Wetlands Center, and the W.C. Adamson Horse Arena, all of which host events long after the midway lights come down. A road upgrade tied to this site isn't a fair-specific fix. It's an investment in a piece of county infrastructure that stays busy year round, which is part of why the change showed up now rather than being timed to any single event.

That's the kind of detail that's easy to lose in the noise of ride prices and showtimes, but it's the reason the Southeast Connector exists at all. The fair just happens to be the first big test of whether it does its job.

If you're headed to the fairgrounds this week, park in back on a weekend if you want the new exit to matter; the lower-cost Monday-through-Wednesday nights have already passed.

I like keeping an eye on the small pieces of infrastructure that change how a place like Coweta County actually functions day to day, not just the ones that make headlines.
